Take a look at the map we've created below showing the areas to date that have had adequate rainfall to allow germination of both wild and domestic grains prior to the deluge they are getting now. These are areas that we will watch to be candidates for the firstfruit in March if growing conditions continue. No doubt more areas will join in this category, but at this point those others will be 2-3 weeks behind what the areas in the map are at now. We will keep our eye on these and other early areas that meet the required growing conditions to produce early barley first fruits that represent the land changing from winter to summer and a suitable wavesheaf offering.
Of specific note is the coastal plain area from Tel Aviv north to Hadera. This area is looking exceptional, and has been known to occasionally take the crown in March. Could be one of those years!
The map is interactive so you can zoom in and click on each rain station to see what actual percentage that location is at as of November 15th.
