Good morning Folks,
Some of you guys are really digging into the subject of olives and what is native to the land of Israel and what is not. And yes you are seeing there are a lot of "cultivars" or graftings and combinations of one root stock, with branches from another.
Keep in mind it is the root stock which is important to the conditions necessary for growing in the traditional soils of ancient Israel.
Here is a commonly found quote, which I have added some info to in brackets, to assist some of you. Others already have and understand it. In this later case what do you do with the knowledge you possess? Hopefully you do not have it in your store room and thinking that is all that needs to be done with it.
The most common varieties of Israeli olives (cultivar species) are Zuri (Hebrew for Tyre, also known as Sorri/Syrian but originated in Lebanon and grown in the North), Barnea (originated in Barnea Kadesh region of Israel. Lots grown in the Land today) Manzenillo (Spain), Picoel (Spain), Muhsan (lets see who can come up with this one), Nubo (California), Picholine (France) and Maalot (a modern cultivar from North African Chemiali olives). And scattered here and there among Israel’s many olive plantations are some very ancient trees, both up in the mountains and down on the coastal plain.
When you are researching and debating such things in your mind the absolute primary condition that needs to be met with it is that it is watered only by the rains of heaven. No irrigation allowed.
Deuteronomy 11:10-17 For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which Yehovah your Elohim cares; the eyes of Yehovah your Elohim are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love Yehovah your Elohim and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled. Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other elohim and worship them, lest the Yehovah's anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you.
It is very obvious what is taking place in the Land today. Do not get caught up in it by using erroneous criteria to determine the start of the Biblical Year. And never forget this other simple fact: we use the 10 Biblical witnesses as described in scripture to determine the will of our Elohim as to the first Month of the Biblical Year, not the 7th. Too many are being caught up into that error of Judaism.
Our peace we give to you!
